An increase in pertussis incidence among adults has been observed, particularly notable after the COVID-19 pandemic, with a significant rise in the United States, Europe, and Russia in early 2024. The article discusses the effectiveness of pertussis vaccines in adults, focusing on immune response characteristics and the importance of revaccination. Acellular vaccines provide a high level of immunity with a significant increase in the titres of Immunoglobulin G and Immunoglobulin A antibodies. Adults’ revaccination is associated with a substantial increase in antibody levels and ensures long-term protection against pertussis, despite a higher frequency of local side effects compared to whole-cell vaccines. The vaccination of pregnant women with acellular vaccines in the third trimester is analyzed, emphasizing the importance of revaccination for this high-risk group. In adults, the vaccination against pertussis is an effective method for preventing the disease spread; however, the vaccination protocols standardization and further research are needed to optimize revaccination strategies.
