Fake educational documents differ in that they can be completely identical to the original and have all registration data, but at the same time differ in the quality of execution. The purpose of the study is considering fake documents as a source of the restoration of lost originals and the creation of a document that was not previously registered in the database. In the course of the research, two aspects of the production of forged documents were considered - filling in an analogue of a genuine document with distorted data and the creation of a knowingly forged document, which, for various reasons, cannot be entered into the database. The paper summarised methods of fraudulent changes in the original content of documents. It turned out the objects of technical expertise of documents are: cliché impressions of seals; signatures intersecting with seals, blank documents, etc. Copyright
