This paper discusses the synthesis and study of the physicochemical properties of modified polyacrylonitrile and vinyl sulfonic acid in the presence of gossypol resin. This polymer reagent will be used to increase the heat resistance and salt resistance of drilling fluids in harsh geological conditions. It was revealed that the modified polymer reagent has a suitably satisfactory stability at high (more than 200 °C) temperatures and salinity of reservoir deposits. The prospect of increasing the number of drilling fluids due to using a water-soluble reagent is aimed at solving the problem of the greatest use of drilling fluids. This research is aimed at deciding the problems facing compolyacrylonitrileies engaged in oil drilling in harsh geological conditions.
