The article’s relevance is due to the need for a new look at the definition of the place of private detective activity in the system of law enforcement agencies. This article aims to introduce the ways that will help non-state private detective work not contradict the state professional law enforcement agencies. The general and special methods, including the dialectical method of cognition of real reality, were used. Historical-legal, structural-system, comparative-legal, logical, sociological, and statistical methods were used as well. This article provides a scientific justification for the consolidation of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On private detective activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan’. As a result, scientific approaches to the organisation and legal regulation of private detective work have been developed. The provision of services by a private detective to citizens and organisations should be implemented in strict and obligatory compliance with national legislation and international standards.
