Iris kuschakewiczii B.Fedtsch. is a perennial bulbous species of the genus Iris Tourn. ex L. possessing high ornamental and horticultural value. The sequenced chloroplast genome had a total of 155,046 bp in length that formed a quadripartite structure containing a large single-copy region (LSC) of 82,274 bp, an 18,238 bp in small single-copy region (SSC), and a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 27,267 bp each. The complete I. kuschakewiczii chloroplast genome included 133 genes, among them 87 are protein-coding genes (PCG), 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. A sum of 193 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) was identified in the chloroplast genome of this species. The phylogenetic analysis was based on complete chloroplast genomes of 23 Iris species and 2 outgroup species using the maximum likelihood method. This revealed that I. kuschakewiczii was closely related to other species of the subgenus Scorpiris Spach. The newly sequenced complete chloroplast genome data contribute to phylogenetic analyses and evolutionary studies of this species.
